Transcutaneous Oximetry Measurement

Transcutaneous Oximetry Measurement182

If a wound does not heal as expected, it’s possible that the wound area is not receiving enough blood from the arteries serving that part of the body or the skin. Advanced Wound Recovery is able to assess the concentration of oxygen in a limb when poor blood supply is a possible cause of delayed healing, using a transcutaneous oximetry machine. The procedure is completely non-invasive and painless, and it involves attaching small electrodes to parts of the affected limb. The electrodes measure the concentration of oxygen in the tissue, and thus the healing potential, of the skin immediately beneath and surrounding the electrode. This test is covered at Advanced Wound Recovery by most insurance companies.
