Surgical Debridement

Advanced Wound Recovery provides surgical debridement, when needed, to assist with or expedite wound healing. The procedure involves removing necrotic (dead) and/or infected tissue with a sharp blade after numbing the area with a topical anesthetic agent such as lidocaine, thereby eliminating pain as much as possible. Removing necrotic tissue is important step in the wound healing process because healthy tissue cannot grow in the presence of infection and/or dead tissue. Deeper debridements require the procedure to be done in the hospital.
